I'm thinking about buying the original Xbox that is modded with like 1000+ games on it. I'm interested in the old school Atari games the most. Is this worth $100? How does a modded console work? How in the world did the guy get this many games onto that console?

Its just an xbox that runs a custom OS. This OS includes emulators for various old systems. Because you can basically put anything you want on the HDD he has installed a bunch of old games. Chances are you could install more than the games he already has on it fairly easily.

Is it worth $100? That depends on if it worth $100 to play all those older games. There is no real way to answer that question.

let me tell you about the Xbox One....

- it's the next generation of Xbox.
- it's where all your e-friends are now.
- it's where you need to be.

He'll take some of that money to buy a bigger hard drive and slip it in there. Easily worth the money if you like old school games and don't have the knowledge/desire/time to have the emulators and games on your PC. If you get a big enough hard drive, you can put original xbox games on there too.

Of course, you know, don't do it, because piracy is bad and stuff.

Lots of people have used them to build cheap MAME machines and play old arcade games and such as well.

Atari games aren't that big memory wise. I could send you the entire catalog of US released NES games without much bandwidth used.
