Does anyone miss the days when you could order a simple coffee?

I go to many places and ask for a coffee and I am bombarded with questions like "would you like a latte" or "which roast would you like". I honestly don't know what a latte is, I am sure I could do a Google search but I really don't care, and I know nothing about different coffee roasts. I do know that I enjoyed Kona coffee when I went to Hawaii but outside of that I just want a regular cup and when I tell this to most servers they seem to grow angry and perplexed. How do you solve this and do you miss the days when buying a cup of coffee was a simple transaction?

Do you say "I'd like a regular coffee?"
ETA Or black coffee?

I always ask for PLAIN iced coffee and they still ask me if I want anything in it.
Saturday night, the Starbucks employee put some cream in my PLAIN coffee.

I think you are exaggerating.
I ask for black coffee if I'm ever at a Starbucks or local cafe and they don't put up any fuss.

It's not that hard to know the difference between light, medium, and dark roast. What do you buy in the store?
And latte just means a shite load of milk and sugar. It's the same thing as asking you if you want mail mail and sugar

I don't know what a latte is either (at least specifically). I assume it's just a doctored up coffee.

gas station coffee is the only acceptable solution.

I've never had a problem ordering plain old black coffee at Starbucks or other type places, but then again, I'm not a retard.

I don't buy anything. If I want coffee I get it at work or a coffee shop. I do know what an espresso is. Thanks for the latte definition. That does not sound like something I would like.

Do you mean venti lorde or verde?

If it's that much trouble for you to order it, make your own...

From now on just ask the cashier for a "drip coffee, black." They should know to skip the step of asking you "what kind of coffee?"
