Got a Yak. Opinions wanted.

So, I have fished out of a kayak a few times as my dad had one. Well my dad gave me his kayak because his back hurt all the time and he didn't enjoy it. It's the Perception Scout 12' from academy. I just wanted to get some reviews on it if anyone has one or has used one. Also, what are some things I should get for it. It's pretty much bone stock except for one rod holder my dad added. Would like to start fishing more out of it and want to trick it out. Hit me with some opinions.

never used one. but I'd get a stake out pole and anchor trolley to start. good soft fish bag, too. don't need much of anything to go catch whatever you're after though

Stake out pole
Anchor trolley
Milk crate w/ 3 rod holder attached
Just keep it simple. Once you take it out a few times, you might want to add more or remove something that you have added. Welcome to the yaklife.

yea when you first start, just keep it simple. 2 rods and a small tackle box. just get used to the experience first

All good info. Thanks guys. What about the kayak? Is it a decent one?

From everything I've been reading (I want to get a yak this summer), you have a starter kayak. If you like fishing from a yak you may want to upgrade in the future or you may be perfectly happy with the one you have.
The best feature is the price. Enjoy.

Are there better seat options? Like ones with more support or where I can sit a little higher up?

My buddy uses these bad boys for coolers. So much easier than an ice chest.

Dat Blackpak is , I got one for Christmas.
OP, Im not sure a new seat is going to work in there? Going off of a picture, it looks like the seat bottom and back are not attached to each other.

Yeah, it's not the most comfortable seat. I was hoping I could take it out and put something else in.

Thanks I'll try that out. Do you attach them in anyway?
