Anyone still thinking Harris will be 2nd string game 1?

Eh?

You don't think he will be?

Has anything changed recently or could this have gone in the other thread about Harris that you already posted in?

It's pretty obvious that Les Miles has no problem handing freshman the starting job. See the RB situation.
If Harris hadn't come in at semester for Spring practice he wouldn't start v. Wisc.
If we started against La. Tech instead of Wisc than Harris would not be the starter.
But it is what it is. Harris gets the start.

If Jefferson started the majority of the seasons in the past then yes.

Nope. He'll be the starter by august 30th

When have we ever had a freshman start at RB in the first game?

I think Harris will be the starter, honestly. And I am completely ok with that.

I'll say the same about QB 2014 that I said about CB 2013. At this time last year I opined that Mills and Collins would not be beaten out, but if they were, we had a pair of superstars on our hands. Mills didn't; Collins did; and there's little doubt that we do have a couple of great young CBs.
Similarly, I doubt Harris pulls it off, but if he does...whoa, Nellie, we got us a goodun!

I don't understand your reasoning. I would think if we played La. Tech first it would make Harris more likely to start. Playing a big time opponent, I'm sure Miles would rather lean on the guy with more experience (however limited it is).

If you think LF gets the first carry in the first game you are dumb. He will probably end up being the starter after a few games but he will not start the first game

The qb who is best prepared to make LSU successful on August 30 will start on August 30.

My reasoning is called 'winning the game.' When you play La. Tech. that issue is not in question. You start Jennings and then play Harris. They both get experience.
Wisconsin is a serious opponent. If Jennings puts you in the whole it could mean the difference in the outcome.
The bottom line is simple...if Les thinks Harris gives him the best chance to win going into the Wisc game does he start Jennings anyway? I say that he won't.

RB and QB are grossly different. Actually I dont think LF starts first game... JMHO
IF Harris starts first game then all the Miles haters will have a long season to bitch about something else because he will have obviously turned over total control of the offense to Cameron. No way in hell CLM starts a true freshman on his own - he just cant muster the words out of his mouth to do it!

my thoughts exactly.

IMO, Jennings will be the starter vs. Wisconsin.
The spring game is a very, very small sample for fans to make such "finite" judgments on, but it happens every year.
In Harris I saw a guy who wasn't asked to do a whole lot of "thinking" in the spring. You could tell that he generally had one read, and if it wasn't there, to pull it down and run. It's part of the reason why some of his passes were a bit late coming out. He was waiting for one receiver to get open.
Harris certainly has size, a good arm, and good speed. But his touch and accuracy were a bit off. He hit some guys in-stride on crossing routes, but was woefully off target on more than a few flare passes out of the backfield and when he rolled out. Of course, all of that can and should improve, but I just don't see how anyone can say solely based on his spring game performance that he "cemented" the job as the starter.
Comparing Jennings to Harris in the spring game might be somewhat unfair, as it looked to me that Jennings was asked to do a bit more as far as the passing game was concerned. You could see Jennings going through progressions (the Jones INT was one of those), where Harris really wasn't. Jennings no doubt made a couple of poor decisions on the INTs, but he also made some beautiful throws that required touch and accuracy that I just don't know that Harris can make right now. (ex. Pass to Stokes over the LB; Flag route to Smith over some defenders underneath; TD pass to Dural where if he doesn't throw it high and outside with some touch, the DB likely undercuts the route.)
People held Jennings' bowl game against him and thus looked for the "bad" as opposed to the "good". Conversely, everyone loves the new HS phenom, and thus were willing to overlook the bad in order to focus on the good. (Remember how great Jennings was after last year's spring game?)
No one knows who will be the starter come day one, but I certainly didn't see anything to clearly show that one guy separated himself from the other.
