Looking for a place that will pay for glass waste. Anyone know of one?

Not that I know of, sure somewhere will take it, but probably not pay for it.

BR and AP have a service that picks up recyclables, basically you pay them to come pick up stuff that they likely sell off for some profit.

Maybe it is a wash on the bottomline, but I would imagine they are selling it to someone. Not sure that someone deals with private accounts.

That's what I was thinking about. Recycling for restaurants. All they have to do is separate the glass and the rest would be on me. Cut the restaurant a check and they are putting more money to their bottom line with little effort. Just like they do with cooking oil.

There's no market for this. Sorry.

Has to be a few big places around town that you could call and work something out. I remember a place off Beaumont, seems they might have only done metal, but might be able to point you in the right direction.

Maybe hit the bars/restaurants with a separate dumpster just for glass then you transport it. Would think you pay by the dumpster load and not weight.

It is actually emerging in a lot of major markets. Louisiana being 10 years behind everyone else makes your statement true. If I had a current option for someone to pick up my glass and cut me a check I would do it.

It would take way too much work to even make a fart of money if you were going to give back some of the cash.

Unfortunately that is what I think is the case here. No infrastructure to work with.

Depends on the price/ton of glass, but I don't see this as a retirement plan of any sort.

Much like allied waste I think getting the clients to pay for the service is how you make the money. Have to weigh on their "green" conscience for that.

Won't work in Louisiana for that reason. Businesses don't care about being green certified or anything like that. Again, a decade behind.

FWIW, I did see a place on the side of I-20 in Shreveport that has a mountain of ground glass outside...not sure what they are doing with it, but they may buy it from you if you do the processing...

Well, mainly because it doesn't appeal to the consumer to be green certified.

Always could collect it and relabel it...

That's money sitting around if they had construction companies that could utilize it. Glass doesn't lose it's strength in recycling so it gets used as aggregate.
