Bald eagle killing in St. Bernard Parish examined ($7500 Reward)

VERRET, La. (AP) - Authorities are offering up to $7,500 for information about whoever killed a bald eagle near Verret in St Bernard Parish. The eagle was found April 4 near the parish fire station on Highway 300.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are investigating. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Humane Society of the United States are offering the reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Bald eagles are protected by federal law. Violations of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act carry maximum penalties of up to $15,000 and six months in prison. Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act violations carry maximum penalties of up to $5,000 and one year in prison for a first offense.LINK

I'd ask what kind of dumbass is firing a rifle up in the air at a bird, but then again they were shooting a bald eagle, so intelligence is not a trait this individual possesses.
