Why do baseball geeks seem so against Freeman?

Or at least against giving him credit for being a great hitter? It just seems they would rather come up with as many stats to call him out rather than watch him carry the team. The man has to bat behind BJ Upton for God's sake.

Because they want to look smart with all of their new age stats. Ooohhh, Oakland had a run of division titles with a low payroll using those stats so they must be legit. BS. If your stats tell you that FF isn't a legit first baseman then you're doing it all wrong.

Because he got a fat contract and isn't even the best player on the team. His WAR is lower than Heyward by a large margin. His plays average defense, doesn't play a premium position, and will never be a 30 home run hitter.
