Will the media ever critically question the "starving" 20 year old b-ball player

I can't believe no one is questioning the UConn basketball player who claims he's gone to bed hungry at night.
I'm sure he has access to all the food he wants in the dormitory cafeteria.
I believe this kid is totally full of crap.
What he won't admit is that he didn't budget his stipend well enough to afford fast food junk, then forgot he had access to the dormitory cafeteria.
Will any journalist ever call bullshite on his claim?

I believe him. Of course I don't see the problem with going to bed hungry. It happens a lot when one is fairly active, or perhaps in a major D1 athletics program. But starving? Of course not.

Why would a journalist risk being called a racist?

He sure has some nice tattoo work for someone who's "starving"
Betcha he's got some type of droid/I phone etc'
The statement fits the sports media narrative...no reason to question something you WANT to believe.

Or they are intelligent to know it was a figure of speech.
NCAA players will eventually get representation some day. Get over it & stop worrying about Rich Corporations like the NCAA.

Really? So these guys can read minds and interpret one's speech? They're more brilliant than I could ever imagine.
I've seen and heard his statement anylysized from ESPN to Fox News to sports talk radio.NO ONE stated the opinion that his statement was a "figure of speech"

Of course he's full of crap. No one on the UConn basketball team is starving. He's receiving a free education, room and board without having to fork over a dime of his own money. I'm sure their are others at UConn who are struggling to afford tuition and other costs who are feeling actual hunger pains.
Screw that ignorant prima donna

When I went to Centenary the basketball team had two provisions beyond the regular student body cafeteria hours.
If the game was at 7pm the cafeteria opened at 4 pm for dinner. Players only. After the game the cafeteria reopened and had 10 pm snacks for players only.
If practice lasted till 7 pm the cafeteria reopened at 8 pm for dinner. Players only.
I'm pretty sure U Conn takes care of their players at least as well as Centenary.

Shabazz Napier is full of crap
If you go to bed hungry as an athlete in college you are doing something wrong.
It's his fault, not UCONN or the NCAA. He is wasting his off campus stipend on worthless shite.

There is nothing "free" about his or any other college athletes education, you are working a full time job in exchange for the benefits. With practice, weight training, physical conditioning, physical therapy, games and travel time, you can easily put in 40-50 hours a week. The NCAA rule about 10 hours a week practice is a joke, it only counts time on the field, not time required to get to practice, dress out, meet with the coach after practice, time watching game films, or any of the other stuff already mentioned.

You should probably watch the video before demonstrating your ignorance by opening that food hole in your face (or in this case, typing). He was pretty clear that he was not just using a figure of speech.

Total BS. The girls on the tennis team put in about 2 hours of practice every other day. They don't watch films, they don't meet with coaches they don't do physical therapy. And that type of sport represents the MAJORITY of college athletes...not football.
Softball, Diving, Lacross, etc.
And if you want to stick to football, the QB of Northwestern said unionization is stupid. "I'm treated a lot better than I deserve."

why has no one asked the coach why is player is starving. Thats the easiest way to get the correct answer that he A. blew through his stipend B. is too lazy to go eat at the cafeteria

Yes and many other students work just as hard or in some cases much harder for the school and don't get those benefits.

Disagree. The university is not only providing a free education but they're allowing this player to use their paid coaches and their training facilities to hone his skills for his future benefit.
There are students working full time jobs to pay their way thru college and then there are those working on their potential NBA skills. Somewhat of a difference.
