Idea for LSU: Auction Spring Game coaching job ala Ark. St.

quote:

Arkansas State might not have the most heralded spring football game, but it might have the most unique.

The school announced Thursday that it will auction off the right to coach in the game, which takes place next Friday night. The winner of the eBay auction, which has a starting bid price of $2,500, gets to call the plays for one of the two teams and will make pregame and halftime speeches.

Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson on auction winner: "If our coach wants to go (for it) on fourth-and-30, they can do that. But we might have them explain themselves in a postgame press conference." As of midnight ET Thursday, the top bid for the auction was $9,500. "We thought opening it up would help generate interest in our program," Anderson said.

Anderson said the winning bidder will get dressed up like the Arkansas State coaches, use the headset and have the freedom to do what he or she wants. "If our coach wants to go (for it) on fourth-and-30, they can do that," Anderson said. "But we might have them explain themselves in a postgame press conference."

Would be even better if they expanded the experience and let the winner come in a few days in advance and draw up plays with the coaching staff, then let the team practice those plays.

If this happened at LSU, I would put $ on Rettig starting the game.

"So, Coach, why did you you think it was such a great idea to run a triple reverse, flea flicker, hail mary on 4th and 15 from your own 10?"

"Well.....why the hell not?"

All good, money in the bank for LSU. Maybe they could use the money to help build a new basketball arena.

Mizzou built theirs for $75 million:

Holy crap, that would be beyond awesome. I'd probably start Kragthorpe or Bergeron, just to see what happens.

This wouldn't be fun because Les would handcuff the play calling of whoever won.

Because of tRant, I'm skeptical of coaching LSU on NCAA Football.

I don't wish coaching LSU on anybody.
