I thought Louisiana still required a prescription from a phsyician to have access to a PT; however, I found a website that said we are now a direct access state. Is that correct? Did the law change recently? And if we aren't a direct access state, why not when most of the US is?

They can evaluate you without a referral however to treat you they will need to get a referral. Its a form of direct access but not complete.

PT can evaluate and treat someone without a referral, but only for an ailment/injury/condition that they've been diagnosed for by an MD in the last 90 days.
PT must notify the MD that they are treating said patient and said ailment within two weeks and provide the MD with plan of care.
