I saw this advertisement in the NYC subway earlier this week. Paid for by the NYC Dept. of Education. Whoever said there's no such thing as a free lunch?

The subway is full of gov't ads like this. I saw another one by the Dept. of Health telling parents to brush their kids' teeth. And another on the virtues of being a girl.

And the one about teeth brushing:

Just merely pointing out the waste of money in making these pointless ads (and also that the pre-k isn't free). People need to be told to brush their kids' teeth.

what's the problem with this? Jesus! When I had my kid I had no clue where he should go. The only reason I didn't go to the web was because I have family here who had kids in the schools and they recommended the school he is now in.

Some people have no families or friends with kids for such rec's.

Ease up, Francis.

My only issue with any of those ads is the "free " in the pr-k ad.. Promoting healthy teeth and self confidence is ok by me..

And this ad wouldn't help you anyway because it's not telling you where to send your kid, moron. It's merely lying to you by saying the pre-k education is FREE.

Or do you believe politicians have a secret stash of free stuff to give you??

I have a problem with it because it's nanny-state bullshite and is a waste of taxpayer money.

It also bugs me because it proves how fricking stupid people are if they need the government to tell them to brush their kids' damn teeth.

Those are my city income tax dollars paying for that ad. Even worse is that the city is paying the state (subways are run by MTA, a state agency) to put them up. Yes, NYC has a personal income tax. Yes it's a lot. Like we paid over 4k for FY 2013.

NYC is the epitome of every liberals utopia, and DeBlasio is doing everything he can to keep it that way.

And only a stupid liberal would believe self-esteem comes from a gov't sponsored billboard. Give me a break.

I can see the guy from the city bitching. The rest of you chill out.

Aren't there bigger things to bitch about?

I live in the city and pay the same taxes. It's a perfect thing to bitch about because it's so stupid and typical.
