five years after the financial crisis of 2008, the economy struggles to move forward, yet corporations are hoarding more wealth than ever before.

quote:

The recent Supreme Court rulings in 2010 and this year will exacerbate the problem with corporations gaining further influence in Washington. This in turn will lead to more loopholes and more corporate welfare for the rich and further cuts to social programs for the poor.

quote:

The crisis that grinds Washington comes from market fundamentalists who seek to cut taxes and cut spending. The problem we have isn’t a spending problem as much as a revenue problem. It’s time to take on the nonsensical arguments of the Tea Party and the Republicans who seek to destroy what’s left of the New Deal and Great Society programs that have benefited the poor and middle class for generations.

quote:

This goes to show that there isn’t an issue with lack of wealth because clearly there is plenty of it; the issue is how it is distributed. If the Tea Party and the Republicans get what they want, our nation will start to look more like the third world where abject poverty exists side by side to extreme wealth.

I wonder if Johsua would consider applying for a teaching position at Brandeis.

Seems as if he would fit in right there.

According to Carter Worth a 12%-20% market correction is imminent.

This is the same moron who just a few days ago wrote a piece about the benevolence of Venezuela's Nicolas Maduro. Hopefully he'll wise up one day.

this shite is frustrating. Articles like this never mention how most Tea partiers and half of the Republicans also support eliminating regulations that reduce competition allowing the corporations to become so wealthy

I used to read the opinion section for entertainment value. Now, the ignorance and smug arrogance just makes me mad.

He neglected to mention that corporations are also holding more debt than ever before.

Also.. notice this socialist's wording. "Hoarding". Corporations are "hoarding" wealth... as if others have a right to their wealth and they are just hogging it all for themselves.

I hope, for my daughter's sake, that the majority of college students aren't this stupid. if so, I fear for her future like never before

Sorry kid, but 6 years into the Obama economy and you're blaming the bloated tax structure, ineffective government welfare programs and morass of regulation and redistribution on the Tea Party? Time to diversify your reading regimen. Perhaps don't start with Paul Krugman every day.

I hate it when students posting ridiculous editorials--in which the Reveille editorialists specialize--also identify their majors and by so doing cast aspersions on the many other students in those majors whose powers of analytical thinking and good judgment far surpass those of the editorialist. I beg TD readers not to assume that all political science and economics majors at LSU are as vacuous as Reveille editorialists with the same majors.

Hopefully some of those individuals respond with letters and rightfully take Mr. Hajiakbarifini to task for his intellectual failures.

Dumb. Corporations don't like "hoarding" cash. They want their capital to work for them. They aren't investing because the US does not... at this time, present opportunities worth investing given the uncertanties of our debt, regulatory climate, and constant demonizing coming from our leadership.

Only the poor confuse wealth and money. They are not the same.
