Just bring him to the Church at Brook Hills. Platt convinced half the congregation to adopt black babies from Africa.

Ha! I read his book. Can't say that was the deciding factor but it helped.
We're in Mississippi, and sadly we had reservations because of where we live. Both my parents and my wife's parents were hesitant at first, but have grown to love her as one of the grandchildren.
We know it will get tougher as she gets older, but other than some weird looks when I adore my black daughter in public we have had one racist ordeal so far.
When she was very young, my wife was having growing pains with her hair. Can't say anything other than black hair is different than white hair. My wife tried and tried and just could not get it right.
I dropped her off at Catholic school one morning, and I forgot something in my car, when I returned, I heard the worker say "It pisses me off that those crackers have this beautiful girl. She needs to be with one of us," as she was fixing my daughter's hair.
She didn't realize I was standing there. I actually asked Sister not to fire her but that wasn't my call.

Wife and I are going to be adopting a black child once we have our residency established wherever we move to.

I calmly told her that was an inappropriate comment and that whether she wanted to accept it or not, she was as much my daughter as my biological daughter.
Told Sister what the comment was and she was fired on the spot despite my belief that she only needed to apologize. But it was highly inappropriate.
I know we will face different problems as she gets older.
