Everyone,

I'm looking for some recommendations on commercial builders in the Baton Rouge area. At this point I'm just in the phase of information gathering.

Rough details on needs
- We're probably looking for 6,000sqft standard metal building with stucco or brick front.
- Will need couple offices, kitchen, bathrooms, and the rest of the square footage will go towards larger room for cubicles.
- Will need parking lot with about 30 spaces.

I searched but didn't really find any old threads on recommendations.

Hoping you guys can help beyond what I've gotten from realtor and google reviews/searches.

Moore construction would be capable, but they generally do this kind of work for commercial or industrial customers. I would give them a call regardless because they might just have a break in their scheduled work and could use a profitable job to keep a crew busy between previously scheduled jobs.

Has done all my commercial work, and will be building us a project just like the one you mentioned in a few months. I trust him 100%

ETA: Sounds like you will need to have plans drawn up as well for the contractor to bid. Some commercial builders will do a design build and some wont. So be sure to discuss that also with them.

We don't have any plans, just sketches we've mocked up ourselves so we'll need some formal plans drawn up.

Thank you for the recommendations.

We are currently doing a design build for one in Houston, it's 10,000sf and have another set of plans on desk as we speak for 7500sf here in BR. We do a fair amount of this type of work, Happy to give you any info, budget #s etc if it would help you.

There are several very good commercial contractors in BR. Block is doing a lot of work right now. Arkel is too, I was a superintendent for them for a while. I don't know what GC you will choose but I will suggest the type of metal building you should choose. The best metal building is a Butler building.

Kent Design Build is a Butler builder.

They also sell/ build several other manufacturers' buildings. Kent is opening am office in Lafayette within the next month and have several projects in and around BR at this time.

For a design build metal building check out Salco (they are Baton Rouge based).

Kent is good too.

I am glad you mentioned that because not every metal building erector can build a butler.

you don't need a butler building for 6000sf. Unless there are significant architectural details outside the standard metal building butler will be overkill price wise

I am a commercial design build GC in BR, we draft all our designs in house in CAD and revit. If you are interested I can sit down with you and go thru your sketches, I'll draft them for you and give you a budget

No doubt about that. Butler is the creme de la creme of the PEB world.

Sounds like you need an architect first. And then put out to bid.

No offense to any architects here but that is totally unnecessary for a project like this

Design/build is the way to go here
Faster, cheaper, easier
