He just has too much talent to keep him off the field....hopefully, he is mastering the playbook so they do not have to dial back the offense.

After seeing the video of spring game I don't see how anyone could disagree

I argued vehemently against this last week...but I think you are probably correct. He simply appears to have more upside.

That said, starting a true freshman at QB scares me. The defensive coordinators of the SEC have to be smiling.

After witnessing spring scrimmage after spring scrimmage and noting that they often have little to do with who becomes a starter and who doesn't, I don't see how anyone can make such a call at this time.

He is talented, but if he is the starter it won't be because of this. It will be because of the alternative.

Harris, as a true freshman will be a liability. There will be growing pains.

Growing pains like throwing pick 6's and getting sacked a half dozen times?

After finding out that Harris is actually a few weeks older than Jennings, I would be ok with it.

If you're correct let's hope he can complete more than 30% of his passes

This is certainly a twist. He was 3-10 with the second team who dropped passes, then switched to the first team and was 8-18, and the receivers still had a few drops. It wasn't like he was some inaccurate QB you're trying to paint him as. That is silly and suggest you didn't watch any of the spring game.

I agree at this point. However, let's not kid ourselves into thinking that Harris looked "good" Saturday. He only looked better than Jennings.

I'm betting he really seizes the opportunity to organize sessions during the break and gets markedly better before practice resumes.

Really? Couldn't care less if he averages 195 yards and 3 TDs passing, 60 yards and 1 TD rushing and zero interceptions. I would give him a pass on the completion percentage.

This is the important point.

Several people in here are unable to separate the two concepts.

let's temper our expectations a bit

are either players over 20 years old? Do either of them have any significant experience over the other? Rhetorical ... no they arent and no neither does.

I am glad it's close and there's parity b/c it will push both guys to work harder in the summer so that the best player plays. The guy that slacks won't start. Cam will play the best guy, or the guy that won't lose us games ... that's key.

My opinion on the matter, in a year where most of the SEC is starting new QB's and it's the rise of defense as supreme yet again, why not stick the player with the most upside out there .. (and that's Harris)?

My expectation for either guy is not very high for this upcoming season. In fact, they both could be worse than the Jarrett Lee/Jefferson first years.. I think though that both have a lot higher ceilings, but I just think Harris' ceiling is future NFL player while Jennings strikes me as a great college QB with due time and patience ala Matt Mauck, Matt Flynn, etc.

Either way, we are a long ways away from being anywhere close to as dynamic offensively as we were last year. That's okay! If we don't turn the ball over, and can be competent offensively, we will win 10 games + ... we lost three games last year when we lost the turnover margin -- Ole miss with the picks, georgia with the fumbles and picks, and bama with the failed 4th down conversions and goal-line fumbles.

I love how everyone is saying I'm blind, that he looked amazing, it was all drops, etc.

You're all blowing this way out of proportion. You can't make 39% completion look good. The receivers didn't drop 17 passes. He looks okay, and he has promise, but he is in no way ready to lead this team in the fall. Sorry to burst your bubble.
