They've been sucking bad and they get as much TV time as the best teams in the NBA

They are the Lakers.

This is probably my biggest issue with the NBA right now. It just seems like a poor strategy to attract the casual fan to the game.

TV markets. Why is an NFC East game on at least one of the primetime games every week in the NFL?

that's the thinking. the problem is they should invest some effort in promoting the star players on lower tier franchises instead of thinking people will continue to tune in to watch big names with a bad product on the court

They rewarded Memphis and Indiana's Conference final runs with 16 combined nationally televised games this year.

I hate this about the NBA too. To be honest, if the Timberwolves were playing Portland I wouldn't consider watching though. I want to see the Lakers beat the Clippers though.

You wouldn't want to watch two of the best power forwards in league face off?

I don't think this would be an issue if the NBA promoted the star players.

1) in this case the Clippers are a good team and fun to watch
2) to appease the millions of bandwagon Heat/Laker fans across the country (because they are the same thing)

I'm not calling all laker fans bandwagoners, especially the ones from LA. I'm talking about the ones you see at Pelicans games when the Lakers come to town who have never been to California and think they can live vicariously through Lakers success. It's the same deal with the Heat. I was on Canal street the night the Pelicans beat the Heat this season. You wouldn't believe how many Heat jerseys there were.
