What would it take for you to become a supporter of a local club? Being that Louisiana only has one, just one, traveling club that competes in a 4th tier division or higher. I think Louisiana is long over do for some more cities to step up and create these clubs and build a fan base. So, what would it take for clubs to garner your interest for support?

Our friends in Washington have 21 traveling clubs that compete in either the MLS, PDL, NPSL or EPLWA. On top of a handful of NCAA teams. We have 1 NPSL team, two NCAA DIII teams and LSUA will join the NAIA.

I monitor this site frequently. I know majority of the poster are from all over the country and most of y'all are just fans of the Big 4 leagues and International play. But if we ever want to see this sport grow in this country there needs to be roots developed.

So tell me, what would it take to get your support? And realistically consider that there is nobody in their right mind that's going to drop more than $100k or more on a team in LA. Not just yet. Not until there's evidence of interest.

I would support a local MLS team or if UA had a NCAA team. I'm not interested in the NASL, USL Pro, etc.

Interesting. Considering NASL or USL Pro would bring far better talent than an NCAA side. Curious as to why not a league other than MLS? Orlando City was/is USL Pro. They were able to average 10k+ per game.

Austin has a team in the USL but i have never been. They play at a high school football stadium like the one in Kenilworth. I just can't get excited about that level. If there was a decent stadium and at least NASL level I would go.

Because the NASL or USL Pro team won't really have an opportunity to be promoted to the MLS. I already have strong ties to UA. I love UA football and basketball, but I don't give a shite about any NFL or NBA team. However, I do like the MLS. If they turned the USL Pro or NASL teams into minor league teams similar to the AHL or baseball, then I could get interested in it.

I'm lucky to have Sporting Kansas City nearby.

Sucks that I have to go to across the border for games, though.

USL level isn't inferior to NASL. USL is now being used by the MLS for their reserve teams. See Galaxy II and soon to be Red Bulls II. How do you expect to have a bigger club if nobody supports the smaller one first?

See comment above. USL Pro is now being used as the "reserve" league for MLS teams. So it's basically your baseball pyramid in the making.

So this is where you've been hiding? EJ 1 state championship in 2014 Grace King 0

There's actually a group of people in Shreveport that are looking to follow this same model. We're working with them. Hopefully it sticks.

So has anyone considered that we are trying to build a system from the top down? The Northwest is an anomaly. They have developed roots long ago and supported lower tier teams that are now playing in the MLS. I fear that we have too many Euro-snob complexes in our fan base that they feel they are too good to go out and support any team that isn't being featured on ESPN FC. Not long ago were MLS clubs playing in "football stadiums" and barely not folding year in and year out.

My question is, what would it take for a local club to get you in the stands?

Kind of, but not really. I think there's a limit as to how many players an MLS club can loan to a USL Pro club (i think 6 is the max).

ETA: SKC has an affiliation with Orlando City, but only has 2 player on loan to them at the moment.

Having one exist. If there were a local club where I live, I'd be there. There is talk of a PDL team forming up on the coast. Hopefully that happens. Used to frequent Brilla games when I was in school in Jackson.

Give it 3 years and you'll see around 5 MLS teams with reserve teams playing. 5 years, 7-10 and from there it will only grow.

The fact that Galaxy II was formed along with Red Bulls II next season is a great sign of development for both USL and MLS.

Not sure what happened to the Mississippi Storm. I was in good communication with the coach/president and had intentions of having them involved in our regional premier league, but he said things fell through and hasn't really been responding lately. Would have been great to have a coastal Miss team involved.

I think people underestimate the level of play of the NASL or USL. I'm not going to watch it on TV, or anything, but it's fine in person. Combine that with reasonable, i.e., bar, prices for beer, and I'm sold for at least a couple of games this season.

For me to really become interested in the USL Pro, they will either have to be in my city, or truly become a MLS affiliate (90% of the players are owned by an MLS team).

That's fair. I'll go when it's easy. Otherwise, I'm just going to catch the late MLS games or do something else.

I've been going to three or four Jesters games a year. They are what they are, and it is what it is.

If that's the highest level we'll ever have here, it would be nice if at least Baton Rouge and Lafayette could get teams with similar support so that there might be some level of rivalry like during the ECHL Brass - Kingfish - Icegators years.

There are no meaningful rivalries at this level, especially with teams that come and go overnight.

There is no max, 4 is the minimum. SKC only has two out to Orlando City, because their new affiliate for 2015 is OKC and they have two as well.
