Roberto Hernandez (0-0,0.00) vs Travis Wood (0-0,0.00)

No lineups posted.

Minor league news:

-Jackson and Baez hitless at Iowa.
-Bryant HR's off Mat Latos (papow!).
-Josh Vitters went 2-4 with a HR. He's an interesting player for the Cubs. He's not a prospect anymore, but he's not really "organizational depth" either. I wonder what kind of future he has with Chicago if he starts hot.
-Christian Villanueva was 2-4 with a 2B.
-Jorge Soler doubled in his first at bat before leaving with hamstring tightness.

ETA: Ryne Sandberg returns to Wrigley Field as the Phillies' skipper.

There's no reason they should. Remember, it was the Cubs that didn't want to hire him, right?

I still like talking/thinking about this.

I think the best thing the cubs ever did was not hire him. Becuase look how we treated quade and sveum. I mean the teams are terrible and no matter how much your star shined as a player, meatball fans (and a few writers) are going to blast you when the team is this bad.

Seems like i remember ryno being a bit grumpy about it and didn't he then quit his AA job? Wish it had been handled better by both sides, but i expect that the fans are more than gracious...hopefully our players aren't.

It pisses me off too. Also, it reminds me of Brant Brown.

I know the Cubs didnt want him. He should get a great ovation. Its one of those weird things though, where a franchise guy returns wearing a different uniform.

Ha...great pull.

Ron Santo "NOOOOOO."

That was the same year that nefi perez became endeared to me (only to comepletely blow it by coming to the cubs later) when he hit a walk off with the rockies to beat the giants sending us to that 1 game playoff.

judging by the sportsworld wrigley cam it looks like that wind would be blowing out to right.

Not exactly great news for a fly ball pitcher like wood.
