Update on the DT situation

I heard from an insider (someone who helps the players gets jobs and is a huge LSU fan across all sports) that the older/veteran linemen are really fighting hard to keep their spots from the younger guys. He said those younger guys have some serious talent.

The only veterans are Quentin Thomas and Mickey Johnson, and Johnson won't be starting so all we are keft with are young guys.

Here is a nice little NOLA article on the DT's from today.
It speaks a little to the current pecking order, the difficulty of getting playing time, camaraderie, etc. I'm getting more excited about the D in general day by day.

The NOLA article has a bit on that.

I read somewhere else from a poster that had ties to the program that Quentin Thomas is gonna make himself some money this year. I'm sure he's a guy who's working hard to keep his spot.
Guys like Bain, Gilmore, Herron, and Valentine when he arrives are gonna see the field though. I love when we can rotate Dlineman all game and keep the pressure on the offense for 4 quarters

This, time to wreck shop again on defense. We should see more blitz packages with the talent we have on the corners this year.

Even though the main cogs are gone, the DL should feel like it has something to prove after getting run over so much last year. You never see an LSU DL get eaten up like that. Time to right the wrong.

I'm the poster with ties to QT95 and "TD" Dural and Lamar and Holmes. Went to HIGHSCHOOL and played ball with all of them.
Really wish Tyren would've ended up in Purple and Gold.
I think regardless though this may be Quentin's last year, especially if he's already fighting for depth from the younger guys. I'm so excited for our D it's crazy (offense is overrated )

A truly elite D is just as fun to watch as a high-powered offense IMHO. Example: LSU, 2003. I LOVED watching that defense get after it. The offense was nothing to sneeze at, but I found myself getting so jacked up for when we were on defense.

The 2011 defense was as fun to watch as those uptempo offenses. You never knew what was gonna happen. Maybe HB was gonna magically steal the ball. Maybe Mo was gonna come out of nowhere and pick it. Maybe Brockers was gonna rip the QB's head off and punt it out of the stadium. There was never a dull moment with that band of beasts out there. That unit was brutal.

Truth. Brutal and INSANELY athletic.
