I'm trying really hard to be offended by this ...

How is this supposed to work? I'm trying and it's not working. I've been waiting for something like this to be offended by, and now that it's here, I can't make it happen:

Why would you be offended? People are offended by blackface because it represents the fact that there used to be an entire genre of entertainment dedicated to white performers painting their faces and ridiculing black people as being stupid and lazy. If minstrel shows never existed, blackface wouldn't have a negative historical connotation and wouldn't be offensive. And even still, Robert Downey Jr did a blockbuster film in blackface.

People who are offended by this are as ignorant as people who are offended by black face, imo.
Plus, Dave Chappelle has been hilariously mocking white people before Nick Cannon thought it was ok.

That genre doesn't exist, and that genre didn't affect the generation who finds anything to be offended about.
I'm not offended by whiteface, just disgusted by the double standard that its ok for whiteface, but not blackface.
