My house has an old Craftsman garage door opener. Since I've lived here, the opener will only work with the wall mounted buttons. I've tried programming 3 remotes I have.

I think the best way to fix it would be to change the reciever. Any OTer have experience with this? Is it worth it or should I just buy a new opener?

Things don't last forever. I'd go for a new one and remove all doubt. I've had to replace two, the whole unit, over about 28 years.

In BR? Call overhead door company and they will explain your options. Have been really helpful and haven't tried to upsell.

Get very close to the receiver and see if the remote works. If it does, your control board is shot and it only works in very short range.

IIRC I paid $60 online for the control board. Original one lasted about 10 years. swapped the board in 10 minutes and everything works perfectly now.

Take the control board out and get the model number.
