I asked them to freeze it whole and bring it to me. I'm going to thaw it out and skin it then grill it... Well that's the plan. I have never attempted something like this.

Anyone try rattlesnake before?

Skin it, gut it, then steak it out into 1" thick steaks. Fry like fish. You'll be eating what is essentially the backstrap and rib meat. There isn't much on these timber rattlesnakes. An eastern or western diamondback has 2x the meat on it.

I wish people would hold the snake with their hands so I can see the size relative to the person's body.

Someone on the food board was talking about it's a pain. They have to many bones and taste terrible. I think it would be kinda of unique to try

Was the snake chasing him or in his house?

My opinion (which is unpopular on the OB) is that killing a snake in its natural habitat is bad form.

However your buddy's property so his choice obviously.

If they are anywhere where children or dogs will be, bye bye snake.

I agree. The world is better place with one less poisonous snake
