Was in Lafayette today and was told to try it out. We both had shrimp poboys. Excellent choice. Bread was perfect and stuffed with a lot of large shrimp.Could only eat half of the poboy. Every kind of beverage you can imagine. Place was packed at 2 pm. They had a beef tenderloin special which I sampled. Very good.

Lafayette has a ton of locally owned places that are very good. Look forward to trying more.

Been there, done that.

When you were there, I was in Slidell at La Pines, I'm aiming for the "Most Traveled" award this year for the food board..........

Local soft drink brand, probably only a year old. There are several flavors, all made with cane sugar.

New Orleans people will disagree. But Old Tyme is the best shrimp poboy I've ever had

It is good. As legit as any place in nola. Lafayette has great food but other than old tyme their PO boys suck including the other popular places whose names I can't recall right now. Go to T Coons and Antlers for lunch.

Unless it stepped up its game from 3 years ago when I had it I disagree. It was not overstuffed. I know they use 36/40 peeled shrimp and there was about 15 shrimp on a 10 inch poboy which is descent but not what I would call overstuffed. Not much seasoning on the shrimp either. It was good/descent but I've had better at a lot of places in New Orleans.

But maybe I caught them on a bad day or they have changed things up. If I'm passing that way again I will have to try it again.

Definitely try it again. Today it was great and overstuffed with large shrimp. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Well you're full of it abd never been. I've been going to that place since I was at LSU in the 90's and have been three years ago and since and their shrimp have always been as overstuffed as any nola poboy. Period. Anybody whose been knows that.

And shocker he's from gretna, so he's obviously hit New Orleans blinders on. He's never been to old tyme, saying their shrimp have 15 shrimp is a dead giveaway he's never been. That's never been the case.

Lol unless you weigh 300 plus there is no need to complain about over stuffing re Old Tyme.

An Old Tyme whole shrimp or oyster with a cold beer on a Friday night is heaven.

their French bread is so fresh and good; A+. Shrimp Poboys always good, but sometimes really great, IDK, something about the sauce on the sandwich is better than other times, the mix, or something, but always good, sometimes outta this world good.

I always request "no gravy" on the meat poboys, sometimes it's congealed, don't know if its refrigerated, frozen, whatever

sausage poboys with cheese is excellent

The swamp pop sodas are extremely sweet. I was at Johnson's Boucaniere (another good local place) last weekend and old lady running the register tells me drink half and take the rest home and make a float with it. Good idea. First time I've seen/had the BBQ ranch Zapps which were pretty damn good.

Agree 10000%. I also agree that Old Tyme has the BEST poboy in Lafayette, & it's not even close. Their seafood poboys-shrimp, oyster, & crawfish (during lent) are the best to be had anywhere, including Nola. I've also had their pastrami & corned beef poboys, these are good but, to me, the meat isn't anything spectacular but the bread turns average deli meat into a damn good poboy.
