Rep. Darrell Issa has subpoenaed the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for information about what he calls a "dangerously mismanaged" program, which originally was launched to get crime guns off the street.

Smart. Let's hold public hearings about the program so the bad guys will know all the details. Issa is just an attention whore who doesn't care what he tramples on as long as he gets a headline or two.

The bad guys? What is this, an 80's action flick?
I'd also wager that the "bad guys" already have a pretty good idea of what the program, you know, since they were supplied with automatic rifles and ammo by the ATF.

Has Issa every actually gotten to the bottom of anything in any investigation? Have they ever come to a conclusion and passed out punishment?

I wonder why he's not been successful? I mean, he's been dealing with the most transparent administration in US history. Plus, he's got parallel investigations being conducted by his counterparts in the Senate.

Meanwhile, the ATF defends the investigations by touting the number of arrests in their testimony earlier this week. They kind of, sort of, forgot to metion that all of the charges are being dropped because of issues with the primary witness in the case. The lead agent in the investigation is involved in a "personnel matter" and has been "transferred" to Headquarters. The Federal Prosecutor, who knows whatever this issue is about, refuses to call her as a witness and is dropping charges as they come up. No one wants to talk about that apparently.

If indeed there are ball that can be squeezed into rock solid, smoking gun indictments, which then can be leveraged to move on up the command structure (toward we know who)...then Issa is likely timing this for the election.
