The table shows the results of a test done by PC Magazine. Some of the vendor's offer free service and some do not. Any OT'ers use any of of these free services or have a recommendation. I'm leaning AVG.

How can something have 5 stars for protection but 1 star for performance? There's not much else I want my antivirus to perform

rkill and tdsskiller aren't needed on a regular basis though. keep them on a thumb drive in case shite goes down

malwarebytes and avg are all I use

I'd suggest even paying for malwarebytes. their background protection is always scanning and blocking shite.

I use Avast, and I have the free version of Malwarebytes to clean up in case one slips past the goalie.

Haven't needed Malwarebytes since I got my current computer almost 2 years ago.

I've never regretted paying for it.
