...by a local attorney in the Advocate.

LINK

His referring to Judge Clark as "liked and respected in the Baton Rouge legal community" is one of the funniest things I have ever read.

Like any lawyer is going to commit career suicide by writing a counterpoint letter.

That's because the lawyers and judges are all buddies.

The lawyers wine and dine the judges and the judges love it, especially Janice Clark.

One of my childhood friends practices law in Baton Rouge. Her assessment of Janice Clark, "dumb as a brick and arrogant as Obama."

I'll have to call her later and get her take on this letter.

I met Kay Bates a couple of years ago. Nice woman but I suspect she would use every ounce of power her position provides her to garner her son special considerations.

I've argued for yrs that La. judicial elections are the most important elections on a ballot every yr. Yet the same "whores" keep getting elected yr after yr after yrs. Even the plaintiff bar knows how dumb Clark is but as she is one of the biggest plaintiff whores on the bench, she is a slam dunk for re-election every time she runs. Just check out how many times she's been censored and, as well, overturned by an appealate court.

I disagree with this assessment. There are a lot of state judges that are as dumb as a rock. Clark isn't one of them. She knows exactly what she's doing.

To be fair, this is a pretty damn silly attack for a State Court Judge:

quote:

A state legislator known primarily for looking out for oil and gas and other big corporate interests has attacked Judge Janice Clark for hearing cases where one or more of the lawyers involved have contributed to her campaign.
Seriously?

Oh, I agree...this particular complaint is pretty small potatoes compared to all the truly corrupt and biased shite she does/has done.

All you have to do is look at the Healthnet case, and all over her ex parte discussions with the plaintiffs' attorneys (and their expert) to get a flavor. Or, just drop by Ruth's on Fridays around noon.

OK. I hear just the opposite from attorneys who have appeared before Clark. Apparently some attorneys who have first hand experience with the woman believe she doesn't have a solid procedural grip on what's taking place in her courtroom.

If you've had a grand experience with her then that's a plus for you.

If you are speaking of legal acumen, Clark doesn't have it, and does not give a shite either. However, she's not dumb...she's very clever and knows where her bread's buttered (which is why if you are a defendant, you're fricked).

The assessment I was given on Clark was based upon her courtroom procedural knowledge. She's severely lacking.

I don't know if she can name all the planets or Disney dwarfs.

This is exactly what I meant.
