We are heading to the Riviera Maya in October, and wanted to do an excursion this time around.

We were looking at Xel-ha and XCaret which are owned by the same company. Does anyone have any experiences with these places? We were looking to do a full day at either, as we don't much care about Mayan ruins.

I went to XCaret a few times when I was younger.

Was pretty fun. Underground rivers, swim with dolphins, explore jungle, etc..

Definitely a good way to waste a day.

Cheaper to just take a cab there, those companies don't own the places.

I've done both, Xcaret when I was a lot younger....Xel-ha last year and it was a good time. Lots to do and it will fill up a day. If you want to do something with a smaller company that is waaaay less crowded, check out Hidden Worlds. Zip lining, rappelling, cave snorkeling, it was great. The group that was supposed to go with my and my girlfriend never showed up so it was just the two of us and the guides. They have a chick that goes with you and takes tons of pictures that you have the option of buying at the end.
