a) i thought this wasn't a problem
b) its not surprising that this occurs, many of those red states were rural. Larger cities have a higher differential of income than rural locations. Rich people love cities, and so do poor people.

But a new study finds that residents of states that voted for Obama in 2012 “are experiencing more income inequality than people in other states.” “Income inequality is worse in blue states, and has also grown more quickly in those areas over the past 10 years,” according to the study, entitled “Blue states have the income-inequality blues,” by Richard Barrington, senior financial analyst at MoneyRates.com
Just a caution, there are two ways to interpret:
1. Red states, using conservative policies have economies that grow faster which helps everybody keeping inequality in check; or
2. Blue states have higher inequality for a variety of historic reasons, and see the policies of Obama and the democrats as a solution and thus vote for them.
I think it's 80% #1 and 20% #2; but I could be biased.

Fun to watch how people spin things when it's not favorable to their cause. It has nothing to do with rural vs city, it has more to do with the type of industry and the blue collar jobs available

Yes but those who bleat the loudest are types that benefit from income inequality.
Howcome when leftists complain about income inequality, its always about CEOs and executives?
Why do they never complain about the likes of Brad Pitt or Will Ferrell getting 25 million dollars for one movie?

It isn't. In fact, income inequality is actually an excellent indicator that a nation is generally wealthy. And, the converse is true also.

Yep.

Yep.
Many of the "red" states on this map have resource based economies. I really wouldn't call a lot of those states rural, though they don't have megalopolis type metro areas. Two of the most rural states are Maine and Vermont, both of them have high income disparities and are blue.

Income inequality is a fricking GOOD thing. The richest nations largely have the greatest inequality and the poorest largely have the smoothest curves for income.
I damned sure don't want the latter!!!

According to the link, that may be true.
But income inequality is something (like States welfare) people like to use to have partisan arguments. Probably doesn't matter as much as most people think.

He also pointed out that while the average worker actually tends to be better off financially in states with higher income gaps, “this advantage may be fading.”

Not a whole lot different than multi million dollar CEOs, which is what he was pointing about folks crowing over.

not surprising that is growing faster in blue states. I grew up in a blue area in a red state. The democrats (AA's and white trash gov money give me more type) just sit around and collect their checks. While the rest (AA' and white folks) are out working hard trying to make a living. It is kinda hard to increase you income (in nonelection years) when you suck off the government.

Or complain about lobbyist and politicians in Washington DC where income inequality is the highest.

Tracking and having a desire to solve income inequality only means you are jelly. That is, you are coveting your neighbors goods. And politicians that exploit income inequality are only promoting that sin. It's a fricking terrible way to build up the moral of a nation. In fact, it destroys moral. Envy sucks.

Wow. How surprising that the people experiencing the most income inequality would vote for the Presidential candidate wanting to change that. I'm so surprised.
