After driving Highland the other day, I noticed a new sign for Tigre. After doing a little digging, I found out that this was a restaurant from a while ago (moved here in 2010). Therefore, this turned out to be an old sign that Monjuni's must have covered up when they moved in.

Now, I asked around with some people that have "inside information" on the happenings. Word on the street is that the space is turning into a sports bar and will be open in a couple of months. Anyone here want to confirm or dispute this rumor?

I ate at Tigre's once when it was open, that's all I got.

No clue, but for some odd reason that location has been bad for restaurants. Arzi's at the other end has lasted longer than most in their location too.

It seems like nothing has stayed more than a year or two since Giovanni's (?) was closed down. Didn't Giovanni's owner get arrested for something? I miss that place!

He brought in a partner I believe and they were running hookers in the wine room in the back.

They always had a two entree for one add in the Thursday food section Advocate good on Tuesday night. When I first got married my wife and I used that a lot. I miss it as well. Crawfish Giovanni was a great dish.

And it might not have been a partner. Maybe just his manager.

Tigre

Was opened after giovanni's and before Monjuni's. there may have been a few other places in between. Tigre was actually pretty good IIRC. It is just a cursed location over there.

back in the day, the late 80's day there was a good Italian restuarant in that spot that had all you can eat spaghetti every wednesday night, thats all I know about that strip...this town does not need another bar, church, canes or gym.

I agree with all of that except for the bar.

That strip just doesn't seem to be a good place for a restaurant

There might be something moving into it soon. It is not listed as for lease anymore, while 3 other spaces in the same center are available.

That was Milano's Pizza. My husband worked there when he was in college, circa 1990.

Yes, it opened a few months ago in the right corner next to Matherne's. I think the name is "Randal's".

Interesting. That's a great little space. I got tired of going to Gene at Laurel Lea so moved to Bocage a few years ago. Maybe I'll check out Randal.

Giovanni sold the place to relative--a cousin or nephew or something--and he was the one that got in trouble with the VIP room in the back.

I miss the old place too. We dined there often.

I have never met you, but I don't think you fit Randal's demographic.

That's really weird. Is Dirty Dogs even successful? Two bars in two really random locations..

I was trying to think of an okay way to say this.
