Did anyone watch this bbc miniseries? Thinking about starting it tonight, as a bit of a Shakespeare novice I was wondering if not knowing much about it would cause me to enjoy it more or less.

i thought it was great...the acting was top-notch, tom hiddleston, in particular...i would definitely watch it again, and i think many would probably enjoy it with little prior knowledge of the plays, due to the caliber of acting.

Thanks. I'm familiar with the big Shakespeare plays but not Richard II or Henry IV. I do think the trailer looks good and I've wanted to start this for a while.

It isn't really a miniseries. It is a version of the Henriad.

It is better than most to-TV Shakespeare adaptations, but not ridiculously so; Jeremy Irons and Ben Whishaw were both outstanding in their roles; Hiddleston as Hal/Henry V was surprisingly weak.
