Sometimes, I contemplate becoming a pastor and just absolutely swim in cash. Unfortunately my conscience won't let me.

Is there any best guess out there how much cash churches take in on a Sunday?

An average would be hard to do. Podunk churches probably don't rake in very much. The mega-churches probably collect 6 figures on a weekly basis.

Politicians take in a helluva lot of money so they can get elected. Obama took in a billion so he could be president in his first term. Don't complain about what a church takes in when you don't know where a lot of the money goes toward. The Southern Baptist have the third largest disaster relief organization in the world. They volunteer to go help and rebuild. I don't see drug dealers doing that so please stop making such comparisons.

People have to want to hear you preach. Don't see a congregation offering you any call. Even the 20 member ones.

The biggest thief is the one "pastoring" that church. When the father died, Joel got one of his brothers to quit his job and handle the business aspect of the ministry. Obtw, that guy was a lawyer.

Why would a lawyer make that move? The fact that they had over $600K in petty cash might provide a clue.

People have to want to hear you to be their minister. Don't see a congregation offering you any call. Even the 20 member ones.

Ministers are very busy people making hospital visits, preparing meals for those in need, helping at community functions, counseling families going through hardships and finding help for them along with having to deliver funeral messages, which are often times very difficult.

I do not know anything about these people or that church.

But, that is a pitiful statement by you.

I'm not a fan of Joel Osteen but I'm sick of people attacking them when we have bigger crooks in D.C. Joel Osteen doesn't force me to pay him. The government does.

I bet Hemp would be a good preacher, no Ted Haggard or Benny Hinn but solid.

fricking ridiculous that a church brings in 600k in hard donations in a single day... That's not counting $$$ donated via the internet or put in their drop box.

BHP, you say you don't know anything about Joel Osteen, so how can you comment on my statement?

Joel Osteen is a phony, and that's why I said what I did. I'm a Christian who grew up in the Bible Belt. I'll be the first one to support and defend a true man of God, but Joel Osteen is a money-grubbing phony. Imo, there's nothing worse than a person like Osteen, Benny Hinn, etc, who use the Gospel to become super rich.

If you don't know anything about Osteen, maybe you shouldn't criticize someone who does.

Interesting in seeing all the anti church comments. You all amaze me. You house so much ignorance.

This guy pays taxes based on his income. What's your problem with him?

Just curious, do you know what the church expenses are? How much they give away?

easily. You implied that a "lawyer" would not leave his job to take this one unless shenanigans.

There may be shenanigans. But, to base that on the idea that a LAWYER decided to do that is silliness
