Best kid-friendly California beaches?

May look to change things up this year for summer vacation. Have been to Naples the last two years and loved it.

However, just throwing around the thought of going somewhere we haven't been as a family.

Looking for best hotel / pool / beach combination in California, preferably a Hilton property (i.e. Waldorf, Conrad, etc.).

Suggestions?

Santa Barbara would be cool, but the water is cold. Be prepared for that. It is much colder than the gulf or anywhere in the South.

With kids, San Diego may be your best bet. Take the kids to Legoland.
