My Lowrance HDS 7 depth finder has been acting up and I can't figure out what the problem is. It works about 10% of the time, but the rest of the time it looks like the pictures below or it doesn't work at all. I've tightened every connection I can think of and messed with the Ping speed and it hasn't helped. Everything on the unit works except sonar. Anybody experienced this before?

I had an issue with mine not coming on or turning off when I started the engine. I pulled the connections at the rocker switch and scrubbed everything with a wire brush and contact cleaner. Been working great ever since. Also cleaned as best i could the plugs that go into the back of the unit. They looked pretty bad.

I'll have to try that. There isn't much room behind the unit to fool with the wires, but I've tightened them the best I can. The way the vertical lines show up, I've always thought it was a connection issue. I've never had any issues with the unit not getting power though.

Oh, well yeah. Work on the other wire and connection then.

Try disconnecting transducer sensor and see if that clears the screen up. It the first plug on your left when you looking at the back.

That looks like a video card issue... if they have video cards. I don't know...

I know I had a laptop look exactly like that, and the fix was replacing the video card.

looks like a transducer or the cable/connector for it...could also be where the cable is routed next to something causing interference...
