So they had a "contest" for fans to submit designs. But, in the end it appears that they went with an internal design slapped on 2 different badge shapes as the finalists:
You can vote for one of the 2 here: LINK. Of the 2, I think the roundel is the more solid mark. It has much less empty space. The shield is a unique shape and is taken from the Seal of New York City. However, the monogram and text above and below it don't do the shape justice.

Such a shame. There were SEVERAL very, very nice concepts out on the Internet that were better than either of these choices IMO.

I don't know. I kind of like the second one more than the fans renderings posted above mainly because I don't like soccer balls on logos and have no idea what a crown has to do with New York.

Only one of the concepts I posted contains a soccer ball. And it's worked into the design of the crest very well....much better than most logos from recent times.

It's taken from the flag of Queens. The designer did that with the assumption that the new team would be located in Queens. This was a fairly early concept.

Like I said in the other thread, I like the one on the right a whole lot better than any of those fan concepts. Simple, clean, and I really like the pentagons.

I think either of the first 2 concepts I posted are better than either of the "finalists." The roundel has a few too many circles in it that just aren't necessary. And the monogram is rather boring.

This is the only one I'd put on the same level with the right one. Didn't see it at first. I like the use of orange in the right one, though.
