Does anyone know when the south farm opens? I can't find the date. Saw that there is a detour to get there now, but can't find the crawfishing dates. I think I remember it opening March 1st a couple years ago.

It started the 15th last year. I'd expect it a little bit later this year given how cold it's been.

I'm no pro out there, but usually when it first opens, the crawfish are small and scarce.

Obviously your not a pro. It's all about the correct pond, the spot you choose, and what the weather is doing.

You won't catch much if your not going I be a man about it.

Yeah I'm a bad arse.

They are building a new bridge in ramah so you have to go to musson lane in maringouin to get to sherbune.

Next weekend I'm going to fill a sack or two.

The crawfish in those ponds are big, beautiful, and plentiful. You just have to know where they concentrate. I learned through trial and error and a little reading.

Go ready to work and you will be rewarded.

If there's any chance you'd be willing to give me a pointer or two about that place, I would surely appreciate it! I'm bringing my wife and daughter with me tomorrow and I'd surely like to make an impression ;-).

I'm gonna bring 20 pillow traps, half dozen set nets, chicken necks and beef melt for bait.

You can email me if you don't want to post it here... Breauxcm@yahoo.com.

If your bringing 20 traps you'll do fine. Place the traps in the vegetation of your selected pond. Leave the traps to soak for the whole time. Place the nets on the outside of the vegetation and run them every 5-10 min. Bring some old tennis shoes. YOU WILL HAVE TO GET IN THE WATER.

Bring a wagon or dolly to haul your gear. It's a pretty long walk from the car to the ponds.

Sun block and beer.

You should catch enough to have a nice boil for the family.

I have only caught big crawfish there. Haven't been this season but have been the last two and the results have been the same.

I have gone many many times and always catch a sack or more. Ill post a picture from opening day last season. What's the website to upload photos?

Probably wouldn't matter to an expert outdoorsman like you, no worries
