OK, posted this on the OT, but surprise, I didn't get any reasonable advice. I got a pics or it didn't happen, and am currently waiting for someone to suggest to piihb.

Anyways, I have a couple of young cypress trees. The ice storm obviously bent them over quite a bit, but the have for the most part recovered.

Some of the branches on the sides are still bent, some as far as 90 degrees. Now, should I just tie them to the trunk with some arbor tie and hope they straighten out? If they don't within a year, do you prune them?

What say the outdoor board on this issue? Cant get any worse advice than from the OT...

If it's a young tree you'll be okay.

Cut them off. It'll just let an infection start if you don't and they are ripped open

They're fine. Cut them if they break or begin to splinter. If they stay crooked, it may give the tree some unique features in later years.
