Will he get fired or will a trip to the NIT be enough to save his job?

He won't be fired because he has Ben Simmons coming in 2015

I would imagine he gets his full contract regardless. Why give Trent 4 years and not Johnny ?

2nd. What coach would consider coming to LSU if Johnny is fired after 3 seasons ?

I do agree though, that after 4 seasons, Johnny would have either failed or succeded in bringing the program along in the right direction. By success, I am talking about finishing in the top 4 of the SEC and taking this team to the Dance. If we don't make a tourney next year or year 4, I think he will be fired.

After year 4, If success is not realized, I think the Athletic Director/BOS and major boosters will need a major intervention concerning the basketball program. I think Johnny will get it turned around next year though.

There's no reason to fire him so far. We had two straight seasons of last place finishes in the SEC. Trent still didn't get fired. 8th (overachieved) and 7th (underachieved) isn't reason enough to fire.

I'm anticipating jones to add some more blue chip guys to join Simmons so it really wouldn't be worth firing him. I hope he sends the old man on the bench packing and hire a defensive coach

Unless we lose our entire front line to the draft...I expect us to be to in the tourney next year...Gray and Hornsby are going to be really good for us next year.

Three years is enough. LSU fans shouldn't have to endure patient waiting any longer. I'm a hardliner and have very little patience for success to come. LSU basketball can be big time like it was in the Scales, Macklin, Blanton, Redden, Carter, Jackson and O'Neal days. It can be big time with the right coach in place, which I don't think JJ is. He better find some better X/O (Particularly Defensive) assistant coaches to improve the staff and go for it next season because that's it as far as I'm concerned. No more patience. Get'er Done next season or it's time to clean house. Quit screwing around and pay the bucks to get somebody in here who can recruit, coach, motivate, organize and publicize.

Here we go again with this tried and true, old and worn out excuse. Poor little LSU can't get a big name coach in here.

It's all about the money. Any coach that wants to be paid $$$$$$$$$$$ will come here. The LSUAD/TAF/Power Brokers just have to decide to spend the big bucks to get a coach with proven success. LSU Fans/Alums have to demand that it happens! If they pay him, he will come.

The 1st one of these guys didn't get to LSU until Dale's 4th year.

He will get at least 4 years. Maybe more. Basketball simply isn't important at LSU apparently. They will be happy to just coast along with him for as long as they can. He clearly isn't the guy that's going to build this program into anything more than what it is right now!

You have to give JJ a passing grade on recruiting by what he has done and who he has coming in , with that being said I think he had enough talent to make the tourney this year and really underachieved down the stretch .....

at times it was hard to watch but you have to give him more time based on the talent he is bringing in ....

to me it was more disappointing when TJ had players that wasn't even d-1 or sec caliber on the floor ......

The reason we're down on JJ isn't recruiting, it's how unprepared and unmotivated the team looks, even with very good players on the roster. Very poor X & O coaching and seemingly little motivation/passion coming from the bench.

Makes me concerned whether we'll ever be relevant with JJ as coach, even with outstanding talent that he'll bring in.

Wait until next year because Ben S is coming in. I heard the same thing last year..."if JOB stays we will be so much better or wait until Martin comes in or blah blah blah. Wake up people. If we fail next year it will be if only JOB would have stayed. We have an average coach...accept it.

I love the extremes of the fanbase. One overachieving season, and its "give him a raise", one underachieving, and its "fire him".

The only reason he should be fired after next year is if we dont make the nit and we lose ben simmons.

You are referring to the days when Dale Brown was coach? How long did it take him to have a winning record in conference and make the ncaa tourney?

I'm in the same boat, but I think much of what we're seeing is what basketball has become at mid-pack SEC programs. Hire a recruiter and hope to get that magical mix that can go on a run every 5-10 years.
