I'd heard good things about it but just never watched it before last night. My take on it:

- I thought it was pretty good. Had a kind of Douglas Adams/Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy vibe about it.

- I thought the humor was better at the beginning. Then it got into a weird half funny/half tragic thing which was kind of weird but not ineffective.

- I thought the acting could have been a bit better. Especially the guy who played Shaun. I thought his performance was just so so. Same with the actress who played his mom. The rest of the group were a bit better but I don't think any were outstanding.

- All in all a solid watch. Not great but good.

I thought Simon Pegg was great, personally.

Haven't seen hot fuzz yet but sotd is certainly better than the worlds end. Paul wasn't bad either and is often overlooked. Not great but not terrible.

It's a comedy. I don't get what you expect from the acting. Better comedic timing?

it was a black comedy. Most well accepted zombie film up since 1985 until more recently with Zombieland or the walking dead series.

Like The Big Lebowski, if you enjoyed it the first time, watch it again and you'll probably find that you missed a bunch of hilarity.

They wrote it as a true horror but then realized they couldn't get funding because of who they were. Studios wanted a comedy from them.

So they went back and injected some humor

Dang. That is a good piece of information. Very interesting.

Thanks.
