At the Scouting Combine, Carey was one of the slowest running backs to run, clocking at 4.70 seconds in the 40-yard dash. At Arizona’s Pro Day Carey wasn’t much better: According to NFL.com, Carey ran the 40-yard dash in 4.68 and 4.69 seconds.

During the on-field drills, Carey worked out at wide receiver, not at running back. Carey did line up in the slot at times in Arizona’s offense, and perhaps he thinks he has a better chance of making it in the NFL as a slot receiver than as a running back.

How does he think he has a better chance at slot WR if speed is his issue? That doesn't seem to make sense...

Lance Moore is great in the slot and isn't fast.

Lance Moore ran a 4.53 coming out as well

Moore had a 40" vertical
Carey 32"

Moore 3.97 shuttle
Carey 4.38

Moore 6.8 3 cone
Carey 7.08 3 cone

So yeah bad comparison

Didn't Landry run a 4.7 at the combine? And he played well in the SEC for years

And were discussing when they came out, had Moore come out with the numbers Carey has things may have been different for him.

He apparently pulled his hammy during the run. Let's wait to see what he does at LSU Pro Day. Regardless of how fast he runs, I've never seen anyone that can catch in traffic like him.

I'm pretty shocked about Carey's crappy numbers. Originally I thought he could be a nice mid round pick for a team.

Before combine and all he was up near Hyde, Hill, and Mason as being a top back selected

And Jeremy Hill put up similar number across the board as Carey. He did just fine in the SEC. Who cares what Carey runs a 40 in unless it's Maurice Clarett slow. He's just a good football player, like Jeremy Hill.

Him working out as a slot WR makes no sense though. Maybe a team requested that he worked out there or something.

And slow POS busts Ingram and Trent Richardson tore up the SEC. Two of the slowest backs in the NFL on gameday.

Carey was a workhorse back - that's how he got his yards and who is at least quick unlike Richardson and Ingram.

Carey wasn't a speed back. I don't know why people are so shocked at his time. He broke a lot of tackles and was a workhorse back like Zamora mentioned.

I don't care what his 40 time is. Dude will always have a special place in my heart for breaking Oregon.
