Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. today announced that Jack Tretton will step down from his role as President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) as of March 31, 2014. This is a result of a mutual agreement between Mr. Tretton and SCEA not to renew their contractual relationship.
Shawn Layden, currently Executive Vice President and COO of Sony Network Entertainment International, will become President and CEO of SCEA, effective April 1, 2014.

Didn't expect this. He'd done ok managing the US events, and weathered the early PS3 blues in the US.

Never heard of the new guy.

Dumb April fools has imprinted in my brain to always be weary of stories that are supposed to happen on that day.

UNLESS it is a publicly traded company saying their leader is leaving.

I sometimes question if he knew what the Vita was though. SCEA treated the handheld horribly whereas the European and Japanese division was actually making games for the thing.

It really is sad how horrible their marketing department is. Granted this year they did better with the PS4, but they lacked the ability to tie everything into a sense of ecosystem. Every product is a one off vs. Playstation being an total environment for great gaming.
