They're helping the govt. and corps. to spy on you.

quote:

But the most significant impact of Sousa’s business is far bigger than locating cars whose owners have defaulted on loans: It is the growing database of snapshots showing where Americans were at specific times, information that everyone from private detectives to insurers are willing to pay for.

While public debate about the license reading technology has centered on how police should use it, business has eagerly adopted the $10,000 to $17,000 scanners with remarkably few limits.

At least 10 repossession companies in Massachusetts say they mount the scanners on spotter cars or tow trucks, and Digital Recognition Network of Fort Worth, Texas, claims to collect plate scans of 40 percent of all US vehicles annually.

What about our relationship?

And the surveillance revolution continues. Am I the only one who has become increasingly disturbed by this?

That's a pretty rough job.

Besides, only scumbags have to worry about repos.

I'm a repo man here in BR area. Only at most 5 percent of companies do this. I do not do this in my company and I don't know of one in this area that does. Plus out of all the means to find people the easiest and surest way is simply Facebook. People put their entire lives on there then complain the government is spying on them. Trust me they don't need to spy it's all out there, no tricks needed.

Is this supposed to be breaking news? Every modern toll road does the exact same thing. They also use this to search for specific vehicles since they scan every license plate that drives through. Don't default on loans and you won't have to be concerned

Must be chilling in the B-Dubs parking lot cruising huh?

Just don't give a dollar to the panhandlers in the parking lot, that only encourages them to come back.
