I think they have now delayed twice since Sebellius said in December that there would be no more delays. Liars, whores and politicians...

Have they yet cited the authority by which they can unilaterally continue to delay MANDATES?

Hope and Change you can believe in.

I hope every single Obama voter gives themselves a high five today.

Have there been any other instances of this in our history? Can the president just "say" a law is delayed and have it not take effect (legally)?

The closest thing I can think of is Lincoln suspending habeas corpus during the Civil War. Apples and oranges, I know, but....

I heard he is going to exempt ALL democrats from paying taxes next.

Honestly speaking, what would prevent him from doing something like that in view of the precedent being set with the ACA?

Is there a specific provision in the ACA which gives either the executive branch or their designees the legal authority to delay substantial mandates and components of the law as passed? Honest question.

I was obviously being facetious, but that was my point. Based on what has happened with ACA, what other laws can he unilaterally suspend or change?

So much for passing the bill to see what's in it. It's like they're trying to keep all the amazing benefits from us.

Can anyone answer this question with legal specificity, such as Decatur or VB (lawyers) as to what authority Obama or his designee has at their discretion to circumvent an act of congress in delaying implementation? Is this written into the ACA?

Are we to assume this means if the GOP controls the Congress after 2014 and they were to pass a tax break, that Obama could unilaterally (and indefinitely) delay it taking affect?

If the GOP takes back congress this year, does this mean that Obama could sign legislation and simply delay implementation at his sole discretion without recourse?

I mean, they've got an uphill midterm this year. Shouldn't they want to bequeath us with legislative gold to give themselves a leg up?

So, if a president were to be elected who wants to repeal the ACA, but the Senate were to remain in Dem control....the new Prez can "delay implementation until Juvember 34th, 3077???

I hate what we've become.

If I were the GOP, I would issue an ultimatum to the dems...

Either fully implement ObamaCare right now in all its glory or repeal it entirely and go back to what we had before.

Suffice it to say that there is history behind the executive not enforcing laws. Sometimes it's ok, sometimes not. It sucks and it blinds us to absurd things that are still on the books. Is this legal? Probably. Doesn't mean it should be. Think federal pot laws, DOMA, separate but equal statutes in the south until the last few years. Executives don't enforce law all of the time.

That's one thing in itself but modifying and changing the law without congress is another entirely.

You know that I know that it's bullshite. It's just a matter of degree of intervention. Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if the SCOTUS called it a political question.

Honest question. Could someone appeal this to the courts based on a burden of NOT following the law? I realize it's a stretch but certainly someone, somewhere is hurt by the delay. Are we just helpless to the whims of the executive?
