So people/government turn on them but an invasion of bad guys occurs and we need them. Wasn't that what happened in the last movie?

Sounds like it... Maybe it will be more along the infection storyline, though.

Are we really concerned with details like the "plot" in this franchise? Or do you just want to see CGI robots fighting each other?
