Saw that this was playing in theaters now. I think this can be translated to: disappointing box office + several people insisting and lobbying that if they left all of the dirty parts in (like they said, dammitt), it would have killed = re-release.

Anyone interested? I didn't see the original release.

Will Ferrell is like the guy down the hall in college who's funny for the first five minutes you're around him, then starts to get annoying.

I understand the desire for a PG-13 or less, and how that might take some of the humor out of it, but do this version with the DVD release, not another distribution.

And if they need to go blue to be funny, maybe they aren't really that funny.

He was saying on Fallen that they basically shot two shots for each scene. The pg 13 and rated R. He also said it's pretty much a different movie. I didn't see the pg 13 so I'll watch the R one when it comes out on DVD/Demand.

I saw the movie when it first came out. It had its funny parts. Didn't really have what i would say memorable lines like the first one did. But they did have some funny scenes. Some though were just misses. Where everyone including myself would just sit there in silence. Overall i thought it was about on par as the first movie. But not really what i would say, a bunch of repeat viewings. Maybe i would catch the un edited version on dvd. But not something i would be like, oh i can't wait till it comes out. If that would make sense.

I don't see the problem with it. No one is forced to see it. If people want to see it, they will. If they don't, they won't. What's the harm? It'll push Pompeii out of theaters a week early?

lol wut?

it made nearly double what the first movie made by pulling in $170 million world wide on a $50 million budget.

the first made $90 million on a $25 million budget.

But their projections were much higher, especially considering what they spent on marketing. And it didn't stick around for long. No, they don't consider this one a huge success.

No they weren't. It was slow out of the gates, but the overall take was very impressive.

Thanks to the first one. This would probably have the same trend the Hangover franchise had:

The Hangover: $467,483,912

The Hangover 2: $581,464,305

The Hangover 3: $362,000,072[

The story is that they made a comeback, but no one knows what they spent on marketing, the book of which they rewrote in the months-long blitz leading up to the open.

Personally, I'd hoped the blitz would fail, because that kind of media saturation is just annoying. We'll see if they deem it cost effective and have our answer.

So no one has seen the new one and can compare the two? That was the real question I was asking.

Apparently the first one didn't help out a ton, which would help explain the slow start.
