Joe Cain day in Mobile this Sunday...

Anyone going? Although I've lived in Mobile the last few years and have seen a couple of Mardi Gras season parades I've never been to Joe Cain. 100,000 people in downtown Mobile seems a bit much. Am I missing out?

Joe Cain. It's on the Sunday prior to Fat Tuesday each year. By far the single biggest day (other than Fat Tuesday itself) of the Mardi Gras season in Mobile. In other words, the signature event in the oldest Mardi Gras celebration in North America.

That's what I've heard. I've heard it's a disappointingly hardcore (not in a good New Orleans kind of way either) crowd for a daytime event.

Yeah, it's just where the DIP, Prichard, and Toumlinville people go to enjoy Mardi Gras. You don't want to be around that.
