Anybody disappointed with House of Cards Season 2?

Spoilers below....
As realistic as the first season was in its portrayal of Washington and its politics (the passage of the education bill could happen exactly as it was shown), some of the plot lines in the second season just seemed so ridiculous.
How many scandals can a Vice President and his wife be involved in and survive in just a couple of months? Abortion, Rape, Raymond Tusk, etc.? It was never clear to me why Frank went after Raymond Tusk as hard as he did (the only explanation he offered was some bullshite about the wind blowing too strongly from the west).
The whole Raymond Tusk vs Frank Underwood saga was like...come on. How can the president who has leaned on Tusk for advice/mentorship for over 20 years just abandon him after one mistake when he very well knew FU was perfectly capable of lying through his teeth to get what he wanted? How could a President be so oblivious to such a high profile war between Tusk and FU?
Lastly, how in the world can a president let go of a Vice President and Chief of Staff less than two years into his presidency? He'd be a laughing stock of the entire country. The more I think about it the less all of this seems even remotely plausible.

Have you seen the original House of Cards?

It's not realistic at all
Still a damn good show

No I haven't. If the original series was like this, I wasn't aware of it.
Anyway, after the great first season, I had even higher expectations for the second season. Thought I'd be able to see a realistic portrayal of the life of Vice President and instead all we got was scandal after scandal and preposterous plot lines involving murder, hackers, rape, a VC doing a three-some with his wife and bodyguard etc.

That sounds terrible

This was much better

You're reading far too much into it.
Uh most of the scandals had framework from last season.
The underwoods are planning to use meechum as a scapegoat somehow, that's why that happened.
The shows narrative isn't strictly about politics,it's power and what it takes to get it.

Only thing I thought was really out of place was the whole hacking story line.

Not at all. It's not a documentary.

Realism would be boring, really. I'm assuming Washington is a lot less refined than it appears on HoC anyways. Probably dirtier, more shallow, and childish.

I enjoyed season 1 more than 2. Still like the show.. but I tend to agree with your sentiments about the plot lines.. I'll add the Doug Stamper being a complete bad arse in everything he does yet he has to be read from a book like a child by some whore.. That whole shite was dumb.
Also a few other things bugged the shite out of me. The gay shite with Meechum threw me the frick off. Not for the Underwood's, but the dude never came off as one to do something like that.. especially in his position. Also, the fact that President Walker ended up listening to Underwood's letter at the end.. I thought the whole letter thing was stupid and a stretch.
Whatever though.. It's entertainment. It's good. Not great.

If this has Kevin spacey in it I have no interest.

A little. I definitely liked the first season a lot more. I just thought some of the writing was too much.

I'll say this.......
The timeline was unrealistically condensed as far as hearings and what not.
Those dominos would fall over the course of months if not a year or two IRL and they fell seemingly in days.
I'll concede that.

Yes! Everything was happening too fast. No VC can be involved in so many public scandals in just a couple of months after being appointed to office. And in the middle of all his personal strife, he had time to get an entitlement reform bill passed. :smh:

This was right up there with the threesome scene. I just cringed when I saw it. Just didn't belong in the story at all. It made no sense.

Stamper had a ton of personal demons(drinking,i think drugs or domething when he was younger, someone could clarify this)
He was in love with rachel and used the reading as a way to calm his inner demons because he was on the verge of relapse(he was feeling 1 uped by seth and Frank was ignoring him.)
That's at least what i gathered.
Ill agree about the hacking stuff
