As many here know, I'm a longtime youth sports coach with experience in soccer, tball , baseball. And football. All together I've coached for 8 years.

Up until this coming spring I've coached the same group of boys from my son's age group. In this group i guess something like 80%-90% have an active father living at home with them.

This spring however, I'm going back down to coach my daughters age group ( she is 5) in t-ball. Last night I got my roster and one thing that stood out immediately was the lack of fathers. The roster of kids I was given was 10 kids aged 4 or 5 years old. Of those 10, only 3 even listed a father. And only 2 listed a father that actually lives with the child... And that's counting me living with my daughter.

I knew there was a growing trend of single mothers, but wow. Where are all the dads?

It's depressing to see. We've gone from my sins group where we have a large active pool of dads involved with their kids to now this age group who have almost no fathers. And being that my child is a girl, age will move to softball after tee ball. Who will coach those boys as they grow up?

The days of being successful and providing well for your family on 40 hours a week are gone. Maybe the dads are working so the kids can play ball

That's fine. But if you're going to go through the trouble to post about it, explain why you down voted it.

Perhaps the dads of those girls are focusing on their sons' sports while the moms focus on the girls.

It sounds like your report is pretty intrusive as it is, distinguishing "having a father", "having a live-in father" and "no father", so I guess you can probably clear that up.

Yep. Giving them the right to vote was one of the worst things to happen to this country.

Nah, OP lives in Alabama, so he is probably coaching a bunch of white lower income class families' kids.
