Do you think the Pelicans will ever win an NBA Championship in your lifetime?

Because I do not. And it's not just because of the management. It's the virtual oligarchy of big market teams in the NBA. Heat, Spurs, Lakers, celtics, Rockets, the New York teams.
Unless New Orleans hits the absolute jackpot on a couple of players like Oklahoma City, they really don't stand a chance, like ever.

Coming from a Pistons fan, I don't believe that you can throw a blanket statement on all small-market teams.
Most of the big market teams are terrible, and will be terrible for at least a couple more years.
Look at teams like SA. They have sustained success for a very long time.
Teams like OKC, Portland, Indiana are relatively close to winning a championship. I'm not counting Miami in this, even though they are a small market team.

Since when were the celtics spurs and heat big market teams?
Not until they won their 'ships

They did. His name is Anthony Davis.

I plan on living at least another 50 years and lots of things can happen between now and then, so yes. People said the same thing about the Saints.

In today's game, you really need to hit lightning twice. Cleveland landed Lebron and got zero titles out of it. Lakers needed Shaq and Kobe for those first three.
I think AD is a great start and if the Pels can get another "once in a lifetime" type player, then yeah, that might be enough.
I'll hold out hope there.

Let's say the Pacers win the championship this year. You do think this is at least a moderate possibility, right?
How many times have they 'hit lightning?'

True, the pistons have been a good exception to the rule over the last 30 years.

They would be an exception if they did it but the Pacers haven't won a title in my memory. It would be amazing if they did. It would be like the Piston team that swept the lakers ten years ago, lots of youth, speed, and defense... No real huge super stars.

Well the Saints won a Super Bowl which no one thought possible.
The Spurs were centered primarily around Duncan in a smaller market. While Parker and Ginobili are big time NBA players they are definitely not the same make up as the Heat or the Lakers. The same thing could be said for Dirk and Dallas.

If things don't change soon we will be like the Cavs and AD will walk

What's the point of being a fan if I dont think we're ever going to win. Sounds like a giant waste of time to me.

To support your home town team, even in the dark times, with the hope they might one day be a contender and champion.
Going to games are as entertaining as you make them, win or lose.

If they can defy the odds and put together a small market contender by totally hitting the jackpot in a couple of drafts (which is what it would take) in today's big market, zero parity NBA, then frick yea. I just don't really see it happening.

The Spurs and the Heat are not big market teams. The Rockets aren't even really a big market team. The Houston area is the #10 media market.
Big market areas are:
New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia.
So the Knicks, Nets, Lakers, Clippers, Bulls, Mavs, and 76ers.
After that, the numbers gradually go down for every team down the list.
However, New Orleans is the smallest market in the NBA.
