It appears CPM is done trying out Moore at Catcher

Per my conversation with Kim Jong Ir on Saturday at lunch, the arm on a catcher is like fourth on the list of important things the catcher needs to do.
I understand Tyler doesn't have the strongest arm, but I also think he's really agile and nimble behind the plate as far as blocking the ball.
I've seen both Chinea and Sciv let easy balls pass them by - for passed balls - that let the runner advance. But CPM is giving up on Tyler because he had a few inaccurate throws...
It's just not surprising to me that Paul is the first to give up on Tyler. He's always seemed to put him in his doghouse at some point each season.
Tyler is the best hitter out of the three IMO, and has the clutch factor that no one else on our team possesses (or that we have yet to see from the new guys).
I hope Tyler can find his way back on the field or in the DH position soon. It's frustrating as a fan of his to continue seeing Paul push him out of PT.

Hale’s move to first base affects the team’s one-time three-way battle at first base and catcher among Chris Chinea, Kade Scivicque and Tyler Moore.
One or two of the three will be out of the starting lineup.
Chinea will start at catcher Friday, and Scivicque is expected to remain at designated hitter. That leaves out Moore.
Moore, a Dunham grad, will be used in a more limited basis behind the plate after Tuesday’s outing. He misfired badly on two throws to second, allowing a pair of steals.
“The throws weren’t very accurate, nor were they strong,” Mainieri said. “That was always my concern with Tyler. Of the three catchers, he has the third-best throwing arm strengthwise.”
Moore’s role, for now, is unclear, but Mainieri said, “I still am confident in Tyler. He’s just not blessed with an overly strong arm.”

Tyler Moore at first base.

Well personally I don't want to see SEC teams stealing bases on us like crazy.

I think pitchers are most comfortable with Chinea behind plate, but Moore should be in lineup against RHP at 1B. Non conference schedule is not conducive to figuring this out, SEC play will determine who plays.

When did we have any pass ball?

I also disagree with pretty much everything you said if that helps

you must be way too close to the situation if you cant tell he's the worst of the 3 catchers. He is the best of the 3 at first base though.

You don't agree that Tyler is the best hitter out of the three? Or the most clutch out of the three? Or that throwing runners out isn't the most important job or a catcher? Or that Paul continuously puts Tyler in his doghouse?

Chinea and Scivique have each had one this season.

I like Moore at DH or 1B.

I wouldn't say that I'm personally close to the situation. I am friends and family with people who are. I've been a big fan of Tyler's since his freshman year. Maybe it's his swing.

Me too. I don't want him out of the lineup.

Tyler Moore cant hit lefties at all. Not a lick. So far Scivicque has been the best hitter of the 3. Chinea is struggling mightly.
quote:Well Scivicque has played all of 5 games or so so im not sure how you can make that argument. Moore definitely has had some big hits though.
Or the most clutch out of the three?
Moore should play first base against righty starters and thats it. Which means he'll get a lot of playing time. It's not like Mainieri is saying he's gonna get 20 more at bats the rest of the season.

I do too. Those positions will be a battle all season IMO.

And while I know it's a limited sample size. So far this season:
SBA/ATT - Scivicque (3-5), Moore (4-4), Chinea (1-3)
SBA/ATT - Scivicque (3-5), Moore (4-4), Chinea (1-3)

I know Paul sees him in practice and I certainly don't. I just don't recall Tyler ever getting much shot hitting lefties.
I'd like to see the split stats.

the sample size isnt really limited with moore though. everyone knew going into the year he couldnt throw anyone out. which is why no one expected him to keep the catcher position. this is lining up just like everyone expected. should be no surprise to anyone.

so far this year he either has 0 hits or 1. And i think it might be 0.
