Hale’s move to first base affects the team’s one-time three-way battle at first base and catcher among Chris Chinea, Kade Scivicque and Tyler Moore.

One or two of the three will be out of the starting lineup.

Chinea will start at catcher Friday, and Scivicque is expected to remain at designated hitter. That leaves out Moore.

Moore, a Dunham grad, will be used in a more limited basis behind the plate after Tuesday’s outing. He misfired badly on two throws to second, allowing a pair of steals.

“The throws weren’t very accurate, nor were they strong,” Mainieri said. “That was always my concern with Tyler. Of the three catchers, he has the third-best throwing arm strengthwise.”

Moore’s role, for now, is unclear, but Mainieri said, “I still am confident in Tyler. He’s just not blessed with an overly strong arm.”

Per my conversation with Kim Jong Ir on Saturday at lunch, the arm on a catcher is like fourth on the list of important things the catcher needs to do.

I understand Tyler doesn't have the strongest arm, but I also think he's really agile and nimble behind the plate as far as blocking the ball.

I've seen both Chinea and Sciv let easy balls pass them by - for passed balls - that let the runner advance. But CPM is giving up on Tyler because he had a few inaccurate throws...

It's just not surprising to me that Paul is the first to give up on Tyler. He's always seemed to put him in his doghouse at some point each season.

Tyler is the best hitter out of the three IMO, and has the clutch factor that no one else on our team possesses (or that we have yet to see from the new guys).

I hope Tyler can find his way back on the field or in the DH position soon. It's frustrating as a fan of his to continue seeing Paul push him out of PT.
