Why it's not time to panic.

Get a hold of yourselves people
Why are y'all acting like in the span of a few weeks things have changed for the worse. The W/L results of this season never mattered in the long run, and things we thought/suspected at the beginning of the season haven't changed one bit.
* Jrue and AD are the only set long term pieces still.
* Monty's not the guy
* Eric Gordon is on the first bus out of town. Is he tradeable this summer? Long story short, yes. I'll be starting a separate thread about it later, but suffice it to say the supply of teams with cap space exceeds the number of big money free agents.
* Tyreke still can't shoot, but his numbers have been very good when paired with Holiday or Anderson (+4.7 and +5.1, with every other 2 man unit being a negative). Everyone looks at his FG% and but there's so much more to the game than that. He gets fouled at a high rate, he rebounds well, and has a good assist rate. He makes things happen. Is he overpaid? Yes, but only by about $4 million per year. That's not crippling unless you also have someone being overpaid by $8 million per year and then you're overpaying $12 million per year and you're down a starting caliber player.
* Jason Smith and Aminu are not long term pieces
What new and startling information did we find out last night to trigger the meltdown? What has changed enough since October to turn #ComingTogether into #FireEveryone!
Is it that time of the month?

Nobody is panicking. There's nothing to panic about.
We suck. Were going to suck. And always will suck, until we see sizable management changes. And we are all tired of the shite show.
That's all

thank you for being resonable about tyreke...it seems like reasonable thoughts about this team have gone out the door for others

I think they wouldn't suck as much if everyone was healthy, but playoffs was not a reasonable goal this season. And just about every talking head said that prior to the year.

We wouldn't suck as much. But we would be 9-10th in the west.
And that sucks

As far as I'm concerned, the only people I expect to be on the roster in three to four years is:
PG: Jrue
SG: Evans
SF:
PF: Davis
C:
Bench:
Anderson
Rivers
And I'll be honest, I'm hoping Anderson is here. Not sure if we don't trade him for a starter.
We have some players to build around. We need to dump Gordon's contract and get a legit 3 & 5. Sending Monty to a coaching clinic or getting a new coach would be nice too.

My concern has and will always be our ability to attract free agents.

I think some people (myself) are just bummed that we have no draft pick in the upcoming draft as well as no playoffs AND we suck. I understand why we don't have the pick but it's still a bummer.
Is it possible to still keep our pick this year? Also, if you're part of the management team this morning, do you go full tank mode to try and save the pick? Or do you continue down this road of mediocrity and not make the playoffs and lose the pick which means it was a total waste of a basketball season?
I also understand there's no 100% guarantee we keep the pick if we engage the tank….but what is your objective going forward this morning?
I'm just ready for Nola basketball to be relevant. More than ready.

If it's in the top 5 we get to keep it.
I haven't checked the standings this morning, but we've been about the 9th worst record the last week or so. So we'd have to lose a few games and get lucky in the lottery to keep our pick.

At this point, I'm truly torn. I'd really love to get a pick in this draft for a young stud to play with Davis and Jrue.

If we win and show promise, we will attract some free agents. David West went to Indiana because they were on the rise. New Orleans > Indiana

The only good thing I see in the Tyreke contract is that it declines each year. He is just so inconsistent and prone to stretches of downright awful play. When he is off, he makes Aminu look like a good option.

I'm concerned that we will be in a similar situation next year.
Most around here agree Monty is not the right guy, but does Benson? I really don't want to go through another mediocre season with Monty, but I'm not seeing the signs that Benson will get rid of him in the offseason.
As for Gordon, I know as time passes he's more tradeable, but will that happen in the offseason, or are we stuck holding on to him until the trade deadline next year, but even then it's no guarantee Demps will be able to move him.
I don't have any real problems with Reke other than his current slump, but I think he'll be much better once Jrue and Ryno come back.

No one is panicking unduly except potentially freaking out about the Evans contract.
This is easily the worst coaching performance we've seen from Monty in any season. He has been stubborn, unimaginative, and lacks fundamental understanding of the game of basketball. 2 for 1. Foul trouble. Use of timeouts. Rotations. Who fits and who doesn't. These are pretty basic things.
We've now had both Pelicans websites write pieces about how terrible we are when Tyreke is on the court with Aminu and Steimsma. That lineup was used AGAIN last night and it completely crapped the bed and wiped away the margin the rest of the bench had fought hard to regain.
Last night was laughable. We literally spent most the night laughing at how terrible some of our team is. Steimsma made it 3 minutes into his starting stint before picking up 2. We keep running the offense through Aminu at the elbow to disastrous results. The Roberts lead offense to start the 3rd was something special too. A few bricks and Roberts TO's later and the games over while AD has this look of "Are you mother fricking kidding me?" as he's the only one hustling back for their fast breaks and playing defense on an island.
We did get to see a patented Blake Griffin flop though after Anthony Davis pulled out the knife he'd been hiding and stabbed him in the back. We got to witness CP3 getting a shooting foul for dragging the arms through Austin playing defense, something that is supposed to be a major no-no I thought this year. We even got treated to a ball going about 2 MPH hitting a ref to remain inbounds while our team looked on in confusion and allowed a layup.
It was well worth the price of admission for the comedic value alone last night, so thank you for once Monty.

I can't see the forest thru the trees.
While I agree with you for the most part, I'm sooooo fricked off about this head coach that I can't see straight. I can't for the life of me understand why he's so damn stubborn to change his ways. Why must we keep trotting out the same starting lineup? Why is he soooo he'll bent on not trying to tweak something that is OBVIOUSLY not working? This season is fricked. Why does the offense have to run thru Roberts? Why not try to do something to boost Tryreke's confidence? Why does he have to continue to come off the bench? Why doesn't he want to see more out of Whithey? Why can't we let Darius get a turn? Why does he stand on the sidelines with this dumbfounded look all the time? Show some damn emotion. I'm tired of seeing the sourpuss look on his face. Back up your players. Get a tech, something. Change something!
And I'm tired of hearing the same tired arse excuses in his post game interview. Last night he said that The Clippers just had "one of those nights" where everything just went in. 75% of the shots were contested that "just went in". He was proud of the effort, blah blah blah.
Bottom line is this board will melt down every night regardless as long as we continue to see the same shite every night by our CLUELESS leader.

Agreed. We've been dealing with a complacent, lazy organization for over a decade and were all pretty much sick and tired of waiting it out

You should be happy to hear them. The more excuses the more heat he's feeling. His first year he fell on the sword after every defeat, now every loss is just one of those things that can't be helped.

Exactly. It has become clear that he is just totally clueless.

Its also hard to keep cool when literally the worst case scenario of all preseason predictions for this team is coming true

The lone bright spot is Anthony Davis. We know now, for sure, that he will be our superstar. We may have nothing else but we do have that
